The Salt Water Guide to meeting your neighbourhood police

So,

Pat and I came home from the OVAS meeting tonight and ran into the superintendant of the apartment across the street. He said he had been meaning to ask us what caused the blue glow to cast along the street all around our house and on multiple levels. (Anyone who has visited us at night knows that glow) We said it was our numerous salt water aquariums and he chuckled and then informed us that the other day the police had tried to rent out one of the basement apartments directly across the street to survey us and watch the activities in the house.

So, not being one to want our tax dollars to go to waste on the rental of the apartment, I called the police dispatch and said that I lived at our address and apparently there may be a drug inverstigation/operation going on involving our house. I said rather than waste our tax dollars the police could come over any time and take a look around. The dispatcher found this entire story very humerous, consulted her co-worker and then forwarded me onto the special drug investigations department. Again, I left a very friendly message inviting the police officers over to see our rather large collection of fish tanks :)

So, if you ever want to meet your neighbourhood police, set up a 120 on the main floor, a 30 gallon in your bedroom, a nano in the kitchen, three 60gs and a 90g in the basement.

I will update everyone tomorrow with the police response. :D :D :D

LOL, that is to funny.

Well Pat(Redbelly) you are probably being watched too. :)  As you house lights up the entire intersection you live at.

This is Trina aka Redbelly or Pat's girlfriend...so he is being watched  ;D

groupie02

Funny since I asked Pat if he ever had issues with the cops who are always parked down the street waiting for someone to run the stop sign

I thought it was usually the hydro bill that starts these investigations...too funny.

alongfortheride

Could be too. We moved in in December and I am sure we are using alot more hydro than the last inhabitants. :)
I think it is a mixture, although I would figure since our blinds are almost always open and you can see the tanks through the windows that they would put two and two together.

I knew it was only a matter of time before you guys would attract attention.

Think about the frequent short visits you guys get. I am sure that does not look good. lol

Well I'll be damn.  It would be funny for them to come over and check things out, weird thing is they still might keep an eye on you as you could always "clean" things out and invite them over and then put things back in.  ;)

Tyler.L

"cleaning it out" would take to much time but i think it's funny, cops aren't the smartest of people sometimes but ohh well. Should be interesting to see the outcome of this.

I suppose me walking out of your house with a little ziplock bag with green stuff (chaetomorpha) didn't help either LOL

well it keeps the neighbours talking eh Trina, LOL

AdamR

LOL Next time I come over I am going to rent a Mercedes, come after dark wearing my sunglasses , I'll look up and down the street for 10 minutes while counting my money and as a gift I will bring plant pots and a bag of dirt.  :)

Do you think they have run the license plates of everyone who has visited your house?

Maybe when you got stopped in the winter for stopping at the stop sign the cop was actually checking you out.

Nor I walking out of the same place with a bag of cheatomoropha myself... And if this cheato was pot, I'd be getting rich fast, cause this stuff has been growing like crazy!  ;D

I saw a documentary, based on O.P.P. a few years ago, were they used thermal imagery (like the predator) at night to locate basements that are hotter than usual.  they're pretty easy to spot seeing as most basements are coolar than usual.  Might have been one of those helicopters that set off the cop's interest in your place!  I think the documentary was even in Ottawa

I fully and completely back this story up as I was there when the neighbor (super for the building across from Pat and Trina's) was talking to us. As funny as it was, I still do not understand how they could think anyone would be so bold as to leave all the windows open and beaming with blue lightosity-ness-ly-stuff.

Bravo, that was definately an interesting and entertaining moment.

Well still no word from the police.
Haven't returned my call yet.
I'm wondering if they might be embarassed.
I am not sure how you return the call from somebody that says " Hi, we heard you are trying to run surveillance on us, just come and knock on my door it's salt water tanks." probably makes them feel a little silly...
