Water lily bloom with roots? and growing new lily pads?

Has anyone ever seen this before.  This bloom is now growing lily pads and has grown roots.  To my knowledge lilies propagate from the root bulb not from the flowers.

I have never seen this before from all the ponds I worked on.  Neither has the guy that worked with me.  Thats crazy!

I thought it was odd, I will let it grow and see what happens.  The lily has had other normal bloom.  It looks like something that could be planted and grow into a new plant.  The lilly is 30" under water that this bloom came from.  It only gets 4-5 hours of sun. I'll post an update next for anyone interested inhow this thing grows.

It looks like it's got it's own roots and now has 5 lilly pads grown out and more on the way.   I think I will try planting it at the bottom of the pond and see if it turns into another lily plant.
