New pond Build

I moved recently and had to tear down my 600 g and 3000G ponds. 

I only had room for a small container pond in my new house.

I have 4 small gold fish in it now.  I will be adding presurrized pond filter to it. It's 105G preformed from rona and sunk into the ground about 12"

I recognize it's a bad sign that when I first saw the pool my reaction was 'convert it to a giant pond and swim with the fishes!'

Yeah!!!  Great suggestion Laura!  That's exactly what I would do.  I keep threatening to buy a pool if my husband doesn't get going in helping me build my pond

Pools are THE PERFECT size for koi....which trump goldfish on SO many levels.  Just up the filtration re-fill it with no chemicals.

Otherwise, you have a cute little pond!  The goldfish will be happy there

Decided to build a bigger pond and dig out next to the pool as big as I can go.  This pond will be at least 44" deep in kidney bean shape and is estimated to be 700G plus.  Water is in the plans as well with pressurization filter.

This is a view of the digging so far.  (pond plants are in storage right now for the spring)

Started building the new pond.  Two layers of underlayment and 45 mil liner are in.  1900 gph tetra pump and tetra 1500 pressurized bio filter






I will be filling it tomorrow to see how the liner looks.

made some progress, one koi in the pond some plants to hide the liner and ready to add lilies and iris plus marginals to the shelf.

I already have 2 koi in the pond for a couple of weeks.  One is a 5" butterfly koi and the other is about 3 inches.  I pan to add 1 or 2 more.

Have one frog now too but expect many more to find the pond soon.

  Still feels like I have so much todo to get it where I want
