Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of doing another group order from Kensfish.  Their website is:

http://www.kensfish.com/

All orders over $75 gets free shipping.   I am thinking of going down to Ogdensburg, NY to pick it up sometime late July or early August.  According to the last order, here's a list of additional cost:

-  gas money is around $20 so we could split the cost.
-  shipping is free at this point since we are above $75.
-  HST of 13% on the entire at the border.
-  receivership fee of $5 per box of item.  I will calculate the amount for each person based on how much and what type of item(s) each of us orders.  I'll try to be as fair as possible :)

Here's what we have so far:

Is this still on ?

Yes, it is still on.  I've been busy lately so didn't get an update on the list.  So far, 5 people shown interest in it, including myself.  I am still planning to do the order by end of July and pick it up early August.

PS:  I've just updated the list.

Hi,

I plan to order 2 of "Marineland LED Double Bright Strip 24-36 Inches", I wonder if it is safe from damage during shipping? Is it worth it? Thanks.

I got one of these the last time round and it was packed well! Only tubes should be of concern but even then, they came in fine the last time round so you should be good!

Are you using it for plants?  I was thinking about buying a light fixture for a possible future planted tank but wasn't sure if it would be adequate or not.

Not the greatest. There are folks who use it - I have it on a low-light tank with ferns, mosses and some not to light-demanding plant but there are other ones on there. The Current Satellite + looks promising and I might get one - again better for a low-light set up rather then a high light set-up. All depends on how high your tank is. T5HO or a Finnex/BuildMyLED fixture may be better if its a taller tank and you are going to have higher-light demanding plants.

Hi FishBuddy,

What is the method of payment in advance?

magnosis

I'd possibly get some Hydor powerheads but not sure which size.
Don't hold up for me.
If I figure it out in time I'll let you know. I posted in DIY/Equipement if you care to help me decide ;)

Buy them from a local salty sponsor like Ray, or Az...you won't get them much cheaper than they sell them for and you don't have to wait.
I haz reef tanks.

Just noticed that they dropped the price of the light fixture that daworldisblack and I picked out and it's also out of stock now.  Hopefully, we were able to get our order in on time and hopefully, we got the lower price.  ;D

You got the lower price of $59.95...  The shipment has been packaged already and waiting to be picked up by UPS....  Bottom line is:  YOU GOT THE LIGHT......

All packages have arrived at Ogdensburg...  I will be heading there sometime this week to pick them up..

Also, I am in the process of creating a spreadsheet and will send each of you the total costs.

About pickup the products, how do you guys want to handle it?  I am thinking of meeting all of you one evening somewhere near Barrhaven (may be a shopping mall parking lot?) and do it all at once...

This way it'll save some time and I don't have to sit around at different time/date waiting for each of you to show up :)  You could always have someone else pick up your stuff for you if you are not available at the specified time/place.

Sounds good.

The parking area in front of Home Depot, bordering Strandherd, should be pretty quiet on a weeknight with plenty of room.

I'm good with anywhere and anytime :)

Sounds like a great idea....  During the evenings, there's usually a huge empty parking lot further away from the store so we could meet there...

Good News!

Your stuff have finally arrived home safe and sound :)  I went to Ogdensburg late this afternoon and just came back not long ago.  Everything went smoothly at the border as there's no lineups...

Over the next few days, I'll be totalling up the cost for everyone and will send you a PM on how much you owe me.

Also, I am planning to meet up with you this Friday evening at 7pm or so at the Home Depot parking lot in Barrhaven so that you could come and pick up your orders.  If you cannot make it, you could have someone else pick up your order.  Please bring exact change as I will not be carrying any change with me.

Stay tuned...

Yeah, I'll *always* remember that crazy huge air pump that you've bought and the fact that it caused us all kinds of grief as we are all waiting patiently for that thing to arrive from California :) :)

It was indeed we had a nice chat about fish.  We should really do this more often.  Perhaps in our next order, we'll meet up as usual and then we could go somewhere afterwards for supper/lunch and chat more about fish and plants at the same time.

Good to see everyone as well and I get to meet some new faces...
