Question. What does all the different L species mean. Followed by the next question. How good are they for a Tanganyika set-up. And finally what do they clean and are they good at it. I know cichlids but not Pleco's

Fancy Plecos are the last fish you would want to keep with tanganyikans. Completely opposite water conditions and you'd hate to lose something expensive due to water conditions/diet/aggressive tank mates (depending on which tangs you have).

L numbers are just used to describe them; not all have common names and not everyone is a fan of latin :P

Well and truly hooked.

not all have been assigned latin names as yet. The L numbers are placeholders.
1 210g Asian Community planted fast water tank: balas, tiger & black ruby barbs, red-tail black shark, rainbows, loaches, SAEs, gold CAEs, 1500GPH river flow, plus 1500gph filtration.
1 75g African planted tank: 3 synos (had them since the 90s), yellow labs, kribensis.
1 40g breeder, silicone-divided into two - quarantine and nursery.

Thanks all for the information. I actually find the latin to be rather helpful, even if they are hard to pronounce. And the place holder idea makes sense.
