Housing a convict cichlid

Hey all!
I have a cycled 30 gal, lightly planted tank (anubias, swords and Java ferns) and I was wondering if I'd be able to successfully house a single Convict Cichlid in the tank (everything I've read indictes yes- but I'd rather get some opinions from y'all cause you've yet to steer me wrong )? Also if that would work, would I be able to add any tank mates? If so, what else would I be able to put in there?
