Title: FTS Thread
Post by: LEROY on January 21, 2010, 10:58:49 PM
I'm not too sure if anyone has previously done this but I thought it would be nice to see all of the crative efforts of the OVAS salty memebers. This is the FTS thread. Reef, FOWLR doesn't matter but let's see what you got!!!!

Downsized the nano to about half the volume. Here's my new 5 gallon it's going to be packed pretty soon.

I'll try again with the picture.
Changed my bulbs today and I really liked the look.
To bad I cannot seem to capture it with my camera.

Played with the whitebalance and exposure - first picture is closer to what it looks like (nasty yellow XM10K for growth) - the second is just playing around but it looked neat.

Hmm... don't seem to understand how to post multiple pics. The one in the post before is the funky colour one.

I had to tweak mine in edit so that the actual colour comes through rather than just blue. With my point and shoot I only have 3 settings for white balance and none of them are right.

Thanks guys!
Whenever I walk past the tank, they all come flying to that corner.....even the clownfish leave their anemone.
Not sure if they're happy to see me or just asking for more food!!

My first effort into the marine world. A 33 gallon bowfront with a 30 gallon sump. Have almost completed an upgrade to a 75 gallon setup.

Here's my FTS.  I built the bookcase that surrounds the tank.  Tank is a standard 120G (4x2x2) with a dedicated sump room in the basement.  Tank has only been up for 4 months now.

Thanks!  I'll post some of the details in the saltwater build forum.  The hood is hinged and operates with a powered actuator.  The basement has a 60G sump and a 30G saltwater mixing station.  Water changes involve turning two valves and emptying the bucket of water.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - maintenance is very easy - and for me that is the key to success.

Here goes. This tank has all LED lighting. Taken about 1 week after we transferred from our 75g. This is a 180g with 50g sump.

They are ceramic rock plates. They are very nice in their design as they provide a lot of shelves, nooks and crannies to attach and place corals. Each plate weights 20 lbs. There are 3 plates. They're glued permanently into place. We used eco rock to build up the corners and the mound you see in front center.
