It will die and you will have to re-seed it with new live rock when you put it into a new tank setting.  Just make sure to cycle off all the dead bio or your tank will explode.

When you dry out the live rock you will be killing off ALL the beneficial bacteria and as JetJumper said you will have to re-seed it with new live rock when you put it into a new tank.

Why were you thinking of doing this to your rock?

I have more rock than I need in my small tank, I was just relandscaping my tank to provide better flow and wanted to minimize the amount of space taken up by rock as I dont have a sump

Just advertise that you have spare rock and someone will take/.buy it from you.
