Hey Nerine,
I am by no means an expert, nor do I have much freshwater experience, but the tenant that rents from me has a bunch of tanks and plecos. It might be a type of Dragon Hi Fin Pleco, or Megalancistrus sp.
It doesn't have the cheek spines :( Though that looks like one awesome pl*co!
So it's a 50/50 as of right now, common critter or something more exotic...
Do you own this pleco?
yep :) he's a bit beat up because he tried to take over some territory (the cave in the photo) and he did win... lol
Check here: www.planetcatfish.com
One of the best libraries with lots of pictures, as well as information how to identify individual species.
There are only 400-500 different species. That shouldn't take too long. ;)
yeah I posted there...Pterygoplichthys is what they came up with...but it's most likely a LFS special with abnormal markings?
(it looks like the live photo, not the preserved photo, and the live photo - could be wrong photo??)
Not sure there are soooo many photos!! :)
