Post by: limmer on July 05, 2021, 09:50:30 AM
For all those African Cichlid Fans.
Saw this interesting talk put on by BCAS (Bucks County Aquarium Society) July Meeting.
Mike Helford - Malawi Haplochromines
He talks about the different species that he has encountered.

Interesting presentation on Cichlids.

Found a few videos on YouTube on Mike Helford fish room. Never saw a setup so neat and tidy, the water change system is state of the art. Great ideas on his setup. The envy of many in the Hobby.

Prime Time Aquatics tour of his fish room was impressive.

I think I was thinking of a different Mike. I was thinking Mike Hellweg.
I have dealt with this Mike about CARES stuff which is why I recognized the name, but hadn't seen him speak before.
I watched part of the presentation, and then zipped through the rest. This isn't my favourite format for a talk, I was hoping for more info about the keeping and set ups rather than just pictures and names..
It did lead me to another meeting of theirs that I really enjoyed though. About tank buster Central american cichlids

The thing I liked about the presentation is it pointed out some different fish I might like.
