I use chlorine (javez, old dutch, chlorox) when sterilizing almost anything for my aquariums. I put things in a pail fill with water and add a cup of javex. - make sure the javex contains no additives (such as fabric softeners, for example).

I then let it sit 24 hours and go through two tap water rinses of 24 hours each

I also sterilize tanks with javex.

If you use javex to sterilize a tank - it can take quite some time for the cycle to get going on the tank again. Insure all chlorine is removed. To insure you have removed all chlorine, you can use a chlorine test kit.

I use Potassium Permanganate as my "net dip". Just rinse the net in water before using in a tank, and you're good to go.

Troy

I use basic bleach and rinse things thoroughly after. I put a cup of bleach in a bucket then siphon through my python.  :)

I hang my nets to dry.  and use different ones from tank to tank.

DARKPHREAK

Ive never cleaned anything, other then the duckweed that sticks to the hose.

luvfishies, is potassium permanganate readily available locally?  If so, where?

I'm sure bleach is cheaper and easier to get, but I absolutely DETEST the smell of it.  Haven't had any in the house in years.

fry, I'm not local to you guys, but a water treatment/pool supply place here carries it. You might want to try places like that where you are?

Anubias

A drugstore sold me some for $0.50 many years ago. Don't know if local pharmacies would have it, but it is worth it to inquire.

There is a chemical pharmacy downtown near where artw works.

I still have yet to find this place.
