It looks like a natural river sand, inert, granite of some sort with the grains mostly rounded. Have you tested it with acid?

Marc

I haven't tested it.  I'm sure it's inert because if it messed with pH the pool people wouldn't like it.  Also, it's going in an african cichlid tank, even if it did raise pH a bit I wouldn't care.

Jeeez, that's nice sand!

FishBreath

What kind of price is on that sand. How many pounds in a bag

FishBreath

Well, it looks like they'll be getting a lot more business soon!  I'm getting a few bags before they jack up their prices!!! :)

Not only price - I already filled the tank and the sand really looks great :D

Migs

Excellent.  How did you layer your substrate?

Marx

i just went and purchased 4 bags lol... they have half a skid left.. lol..

Shannon

I bought that sand too from Mermaid Pools on Ogilvie.  It was great.  Looks nexactly like the picture.  It is not fine and silty.  I put it in my African tank but I also mixed it with some of the gravel and river rock I had.  I think it looks great.  If I had a camera I'd show you.  Marx did you get the rock you were looking for?

Marx

Shannon,

No i didn't get the rock yet... no time hehe..

BTW how are the tanks??
