WPG for planted tank

Hello,

I just want to know whether the wattage from different types of lamps is counted as the same or not. I just put 2x23W of compact fluorescent lamps into my DIY canopy over 20G tank. Should I count it as about 2wpg?

Actually, you should be more concerned about the amount of lux.  Wattage is easier to go by, but ultimately lux (lumens per square meter) will tell you how much light you are getting from each bulb.

However, I will say that all the wattage in the world means nothing if it isn't getting to the bottom of the tank.  You'd be amazed how a good reflector can change plant growth.

As far as your question goes, its safe to say you can consider that a "medium" lit tank at a little over 2.3 wpg

Well, if each of these lamps is 1600 lumens, than will light can be considered as "medium"?
