One of my Pleco's that I have had for the last few years has suddenly gotten 2 huge white spots on his stomach and chest.  He is normal and swims constantly.  I just want to be sure its not going to end up being something serious.

Any opinions on what the 2 spots might be would be appreciated.  I listed 2 pics below

Hard to tell in a picture could be fungus....others might have a better idea.

It looks from the photos that his anus and all his joints are showing white spots.  I don't know if that's a trick of the photo, or if I'm missing something, but if the spots I see are the issue, they look too specific to be a random disease.

I'm tossing out a suggestion only - I know that a lot of people who keep plecos as their cleanup crews in cichlid tanks don't feed them seperately.  In the pic his stomach looks concave.  Could he be rubbing his joints due to being thin, and could the issue with his anus also be diet related?

I would suggest trying to fatten him up on a higher veg diet after lights off and see if that helps.

As I said - it's only a suggestion - I really don't have a firm diagnosis for you.

I would give Laura's suggestion some thought, as I tend to agree with her, and should they appear fuzzy at all, it may well prove her theory as they would become open sores.

Wounds are not fuzzy at all, simply white spots.  I do feed spirulina pucks nightly , plus they eat left over from flakes and my homemade frozen food, which has large amount of broccoli, peas and pure spirulina powder AKA "My version of Ad Konnings Cichlid Protein Diet".  They are super fat even though they look skinny on angle pic was taken.

Thanks for your help
