Hi,

Anybody know where can I get the track like this in Ottawa

Any decent window or glass shop should be able to supply slider tracks, maybe even some hardware stores.

VERY interested in this as well...being unable to find this was the primary reason I didn't have my own glass tops cut.

if you know someone with a table saw they can very easily be made out of hardwood

If this is for sliding glass tops on aquariums, then you can approach any of the local fish stores, they all sell it, and can be ordered if not in stock. It is the same stuff that is used for sliding glass doors in cabinetry that isn't wheeled.

As for using wood in this application, wood in that zone of the aquarium tends to produce moulds, you don't want those, and some woods that resist rot, produce chemicals you don't want in your tank.

However, if you have a table saw, and some time, don't wish to wait on an order, or whatever, you can by pieces of UHMW plastic (ultra high molecular weight) from Canus on Lisgar, Lee Valley Tools, and similar stuff from the Home Depots and Rona. That will cut easily on a saw, slide easily, and not rot or anything, plus you can get it all sorts of colours.

It is dense, stable, has a low coefficient for friction and is also non-toxic, really neat stuff.

Home depot sells it.  We just bought about 100ft of it to make 20 new terrarium enclosures for my friends reptiles.
