can i use a AC 500

Can i use a AC 500 on a 65gal african tank?

then get another one down the road?

the tank will have a internal powerhead aswell.. a AC 402 with quick filter..

will this be okay?

is there a way to jump start this filter... i would hang it on my 75 but it would cuase suface aggitation and plants don't like that lol.. and suggestions?

I would definitely say it's possible for sure all depending on how heavily you plan on stocking the tank?

I am currently running an AC500 on my 55 gallon with an AC402 powerhead and its crystal clear.

whats better Rena filstar Xp2 or AC500? i will have the AC402 with quickfilter with either choice?

Personally I would go with the cannister over the HOB for SURE.

I like cannisters better the seem to keep the water cleaner or run both I do lol I have a AC500 on my 55 planted with a Fluval 204 as well nice and clear water!!

I ran just an AC-500 on my 75G Cichlid tank for awhile with no problems but it depends on stocking.
Now that my tank is fully stocked I have 2 AC500's & a Fluval 404..........can never have too much filtration! Some might say my tank is overstocked with  22+  mbuna including Yellow Labs,Red Zebras and Kenyis. I tend to disagree with the filtration and water changes i perform all has been fine.

with 2 AC300's which i sold lol..

Funny how peoples  perception differs eh? I do not think my tank is over stocked by any means infact I'm looking to add some danios if I can find 4-5.Totally depends on type of fish,male to female ratio,filtration amongst other things but some of the hardcore people are set in their ways.to each their own.
How long was that tank set up Marx.....any problems?

i had it running for 3years... and i even tore it down to move then set it back up right away..

i remember my yellow lab lost a eyeball..  

but it was my fault...for not having enough rock in tank after move...

algae never really bloomed.. i had a normal pleco  taking care of that..

i vaccummed the gravel once a week... and water changes evey 2 weeks.. 30% so 60% a month..

never got ich in the tank either.. Africans seem tough..
