I have never had a problem with snail's in my africian tanks I have a 26gal bow front full of juvies and they kill every snail I put in if it is a malawi tank you are building try getting some Sciaenochromis fryeri, I have 2 juvies and they are killer's....The slayer's of any snail I put into the tank....and they are beautiful when they get older

40 gal breeder  F1 electric blue frierei, 25 gal sunshine peacock males awaiting females, 20 gallon trio albino pleco, 65gal neolamprongus Brachardi pulcher 2 30g fry grow out, 20g hatchery with 4 batches of eggs currently
Starting on a fish wall for breeding more coming soon!

Good point pegasus, malaysian trumpet snails are live bearers. :)
