Hey all, was just wondering how do I know if my tank (65G) has cycled? I had Amonia spikes, then Nitrites but no Nitrates spike yet. Had the tank since Dec 26th

Thanks all

BigDaddy

When you have nitrates, 0 nitrites and 0 ammonia, your tank is cycled

scorpion-stinger

ok, I now have 0 Nitrites and 0.25 Amonia and 0 Nitrates......

PaleoFishGirl

.25 ammonia, that means your cycle has started over again. Have patience, grasshopper ;D

PoisonJello

just put the fish in it already, i hate waiting can you tell

fishycanuck

If you put all of those fish in at once, then you have overloaded the biofilter. Keep a good eye on your parameters, do small frequent pwcs, and underfeed. I hate waiting too - but managed to kill many of my fish in the first few months of fishkeeping that way.

Fish has been in the tank since the beginning and are you sure that the cycle has restarted. I also added a new XP3 canister. Would that have an impact on it? (the cycle) I originally put a eheim canister when I bought my tank new Dec 26
