Lighting is still the one thing I can't figure out what I should get.  I have found a couple of 55 gallon tanks that I could have bought, but can't figure out what to put over them in the way of lighting.  I want this tank in my family room, so I want it to look good, not have shop lights hanging over it.
I don't need to grow anything more than low light plants, so I figured 2-3 watts per gallon. (Java fern, watersprite, hygro, some crypts)
What is the least expensive way to get 2-3 watts per gallon over a tank, but still have a show tank?
48inch bulbs are 40 watts right?  So over a 55 gallon you need say 4 bulbs?  Which wouldn't leave space to actually get into the tank. lol.
I've looked a little at changing to CF lighting but that seems to cost quite a bit.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I want to get another tank!!!!-but need to figure out what I am doing!!!!!
Just found a 55 with two lights...but thats only 80 watts, still not enough right?

Actually, shoplights built into a canopy is pretty easy.

HInge the canopy down the centre length, and attach a dual set on each half of the canopy. You can then lift the front of the canopy, AND the lights that are attached, to get into the tank.

I'll see if I can find the plans for this......and attach a picture....

Thats what i did luvfishies..I just took the shop canopies apart and used the wiring and stuuf and attached it to my canopy cost was around 50 bucks. Attached are pics of it

Thank you both.  That does look pretty easy to do.  I am guessing that neither of those are 55 gallon though?  I was looking at them and they are very narrow.
And $50 is waaay cheaper than the $220 that BA's is asking for a triple light fixture.
OK you have given me hope!

Nope those pics are of my 55 gallon!! Probably one of those eye tricks you get with pics ;)
