Rocks over sand?

Now this may be a dumb question, maybe not but here I go.  Is it a problem if I put small rocks over Sahara sand? I'm planning on putting rocks either in one corner only to create a somewhat different type of habitat in one part of the thank or may be all over as sand seems to be a pain in the rear hand when comes the time to clean the bottom of the aquarium whit a succion hose.  I want to keep the sand as there is already about 2 inches thick everywhere and I have some live plants but would also like some rocks in order to ease cleaning and have diversity in the tank...

good or bad idea ;-)
