air pump antisyphon valves?

my air pumps came with oneway antisyphon valve so i put them on but I found my air bubblers not performing very well so i removed the antisyphon valves and hugh difference..at least twice the air output...is that normal or is there just something wrong with the valves? 
I have 3 of the valves all the same...I have one valve here from a different company i could try i guess but you all seem to like answering questions  so i thought i would ask first

I added a valve to one of my air lines and it made no noticeable difference to the air flow.

must be bad valves I just tried blowing throught them and i get really red in the face  so i decided to try the other brand valve i have and i can blow through it just fine not so red in the face 
just seems strange cause they are all new and bought many months apart, you would think if there all like that, the company might make new type
