Has anyone created an internal background and if so how etc.  ???

I have seen one that Mila has done, and it is rather nice, he told me it was a lot of work though, and a lot of water changes to get the pH to come down to what he wanted.

One of the easier internal backgrounds to create is a moss wall.  Standard window screen can be used.  Cut it to the size of your back plate once folded in half, seed it with moss, and then secure it with suction cups cut into the mesh.  Eventually, the moss grows through the mesh, and you have a wall of green for a background.

Care has to be taken to measure the mesh properly, lest you have areas small fish can get trapped behind.  Haven't done it yet myself, but between that and cork backgrounds, I definitely plan on trying one or both very soon.

I didn't make mine but I did buy a Styrofoam background for my discus tank (a little silicone, time, and ready for water).

I did Styrofoam-cement background and doing another one. I want lots of caves in it, so i can't use brush to apply cement. I'm using Self-bonding cement (dry premix) from HD and just dusting wet surface of styro. This way I can get it inside small caves.
I still testing the first one, after one month with fish I have no problem.

That looks pretty cool but
how would you clean back there
does it just lift out?

rocketboy

the moss background looks really nice. would you have to upgrade the lighting for a planted tank or would the regular lighting be sufficeant?
