I've been keeping freshwater fish for a number of years and lately I've been itching for something else when a dwarf lion fish caught my eye, intrested I did some research and decided this would be my next fish. So I was wondering for it seems to me that I can't find it anywhere can lionfish be kept with coral?  ???

Thanks in advance.

Cool thanks, since this would be my fist saltwater tank I won't put much coral in if I do.  :)

If you do go with a lion - be careful - you will want to keep smaller fish and inverts with your corals and such as well as your clean up crew - as small as your lion may be - they have BIG mouths and your crew may become a snack!! Keep in mind what you see in the pet store is not how you want to keep the fish at home. They place species together that normally wouldn't go together and since they are usually there in the stores for a little while before they are sold - that's not too bad.....but you may want to watch what you keep together in your home tank as this is where they will live, thrive and possibly become a different fish than what you saw in the store (more aggressive or more passive). Do the research thoroughly before-hand...where in freshwater a $12 fish lost to another predator is bad enough - try in salt water where the cheapest fish (apart from damels) start around the $20 range, this hurts when it becomes a snack for something else...trust me it hurts  :'( :'( :'(

Talk to the guys at Big al's Kanata either Adam, Bob, Kyle or any of the others or even visit Marinescape - they are a wealth of knowledge just wating to be tapped!!  In otherwords - decide what fish you really want, research it then build your tank around it.

Once you go salt though...you'll not want to go back and you'll look at your fresh water tanks and decide do you like them enough to keep them or can this become a salt tank too!!!  :D ;D :D
