so far, ive had it for a few days, and i ahve not fed it anything. i see it picking through the sand (or it would do if it had any claws!..i should have got a discount!) with its feathers and legs and just filtering the water.

when i scrape the glass it seems to get a little more active.

im curious, i read you can feed it bits of fish and shrimp. Can i feed it table scraps? what i mean is if i am making fish for dinner, can i cut a tiny piece for Nebula (his name) and if yes, shoudl it be raw or cooked?

anyeays, what to do? can i use any of my existing fish food? i have BAGS of NLS and some spirulina flake that i feed my cichlids.

Thanks!

Mine eats whatever he can grab with his "fans"

I have never fed him ever since I got him about 4months ago.

Keep your circulation pumps on when feeding the fish.

I feed my tank frozen cyclopeez and my crab's feeding fans go nuts filtering the stuff out of the water.

Thanks! What if i only have him in the tank. along with 6 hermets and 3 zebra snails...
should i drop something in for him? (chances are the others will get it before he does though.)

cyclopeeze is your best bet..

perfect filter feeding food that he can catch and eat with no problem.

I actually hand feed mine occassionally. When I am feeding raw shrimp to my anenome and fish, usually tear off a small bit and he comes scrambling up to grab it. In my other tank, I have 1 that is not as friendly so I leave shrimp close to him and he comes to get it when my hand leaves the tank. This is just a bonus incase there is not enough filter stuff available at that time.

Raw tho - not cooked.

As Heidi already mentioned they not only filter feeders, but also can use their claws to rip nice pieces apart. When I'm feeding my anemone, they cut some pieces for themselves before anemone eat it. As soon as shrimp is finished they switch to "filtering mode". I never fed them separatly, but I assume they have a chance to get also BBS, phyto and other coral food I'm feeding my tank.
BTW, anemone shrimps also fed on the anemone food leftovers and often help anemones when it releases its poop...
