Ok so I plan on slowly building up my new 44g into a marine tank.  The bulk of the purchases won't happen until after my wedding in August.  My question is if I get a deal on liverock how is the best way to store it until the time comes to put it in the tank?  Can I just put it in a rumermain container in water with a bubbler?  Does it need light?  Heat?

Any help would be appriciated.

just run a powerhead in the container, heater is not needed in this weather for sure, hope this helps.

What about lights?  No need?

Lights won't be needed. keep it covered out of light in saltwater with a powerhead circulating the water around. If/when it gets really stinky, start doing partial water changes to help it cure. Scrape off the die off/black crud with a toothbrush, and blast it off with a turkey baster before you put it in the rubbermaid container. This will help it cure faster... Good luck with that, and the marriage.  ;)

I have a few small pieces of liverock in a tiny tank (10inches X 4inches X 5inches high) with a heater, powerhead and a light....without the other predators there (I have a few snails though) I'm noticing lots of interesting things growing on it that I don't normally see in the main tank ....and they are growing quickly too. What I guess I'm saying is that although the light might not be necessary....I think it helps some neat things appear that you might eventually like in your main tank!!  My light is just a compact fluorescent twisty 6500K reptile bulb!!

I bought all the LR for my tank about 3 months ago.. and the placed into 3 rubbermaid containers with SW a heater and 2 powerheads for whater movement now the LR that I had bought was cured already.. if it is uncured just place a skimmer in the container and do water changes every month till it is cured leave it with a cover on and no light
