So there I was, on my way to Oscars tank with his beefheart in hand.
The fins start waggin' away, he's getting all excited, he loves his beefheart!

On my way I had company... my little person in a fur coat (read: siamese cat) who hates water.

Well she jumped up on the back of the futon and sat at the end of it to watch what I was doing.

I lift the lid, then the bowl (which the furball had to peek over to take a better look at what was inside from that angle) and Mr. Eager (Oscar) gave her one heck of a surprise.

I didn't even have the beefheart out of the bowl and he jumped out of the water (no worries, not out of the tank), well lets just say did you know cats can fly?

I think I know where the term scaredy cat comes from.  ;D

Just thought I would share that little story with you as it gave us (not including the cat) one heck of a good laugh.

Cat, meet fish.
I think she'll be weary the next time she gets served tuna!  :D

That is hilarious!!  I have seen the other side of things with my two cats playing with the catfish in tanks.  The catfish are at eye level when the cats jump up to take a look.  I also had a cat back in the early 90s that used to jump up and warm itself on the light of a 65 gallon I had running.  One day I was cleaning it and she decided to jump up to an open tank.  She went right in.  I had full view as I was vacuuming the gravel.  It was like watching a diving cat from below the water.  She jumped right out and ran down into the furthest depths of the crawlspace all embarrassed.  I will never forget that!  She never did warm herself on top of that tank again.

I would have love to seen that. ;D  I have 2 cats It's amazing how high they can jump straight up in the air when startled.  :)

It is definitely a funny occurrence that happens at least once every couple of days with cats!

One of my female bettas (obviously in a different tank then the one Oscar is in) will jump for food too.

I wonder if my ca... er... little person in a fur coat will try sniffing at that tank too only to realise size doesn't matter. ;D

ROFL!!!  Reminds me of when one of our furred kids jumped into the tub to get a toy, only the tub was full!  I swear, he hovered there for a few seconds before hitting the water! :D
