fluval 304 seal issue

Since the last cleaning, my fluval doesn't want to go together properly.
Fits ok without the rubber seal, but not with the seal.
Its like the seal is too big, or loose, not allowing the pieces to fit.

Is this common ?  Will a new seal fix the issue ?

Thanks

I just started to used fluvals last night  :D

If the seals are dry out they leak. Easiest way is to moisture the o-rings a bit (but completely) with water (greasy/oil stuff works too). This should make them slippery enough to slide in properly and guarantee a good seal. You should do this for the big seal as well as for the tubing seals. If the ring is obviously porous though you will need to replace it.

At the hardware store get a small jar $3 of plumbers silcone paste. Makes it breeze to put together, helps the rubber last longer, and prevents the leaking.

Mike,

My Fluvals (1x304, 2x404 & a Fx5) specically the smaller ones seem a little tight when reseating after maintenance. I assume you have read the instructions and have lined up the letters top and bottom and if you moved the seal you placed it in the same location. Press the top down firmly and then use the clamps to complete the seal... a little oomph may be required but not a lot.  Good luck!

Thanks all.

I have always stored it dry and never had this problem before.
But it has been at least 6 months since last used it...

I tried to lub it up a bit with some water and it did help a bit, but still not
seated like it used to.
