Question on algae ..

As I have not had to fight algae before, I really do not know a whole lot about it. I was just wondering, if you see a few patches (in this case purple HA) and you scrub them with a brush, in the tank, will that cause it to spread like alot of other things in SW tanks?

Yes it will.
Scrubbing your rock only become a good idea when the tank is covered in algae and the threat of it spreading to a new spot really isnt a concern.

Purple hair algae though eh.. can you post a pic?

I will try to get a pic tomorrow when the lights come on, they are only in shaded areas of the tank though so I am not sure how good it will be.

sorry, my camera is crap and this is the best I could get. You cannot even see the stringy stuff in the pic, but its there and it blows in the flow.
