I can't decide what to do with a new tank: medium-ish light planted or FOWLR (possibly low light corals) so I'm posting in SW and FW for ideas.  I do know I don't want to do cichlids.  The tank is 36"x16"x20" and lighting is 2x39w T5HO.  Any thoughts...?

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Toby puffers (such as a Valentini, Papuan, Sharpnose, etc.) would be darling choices.  :)

How about a high flow, low light non photo synthetic tank with some very low light corals. You could have gorgonia and some leathers in it.

I am building one myself too ;)

OR

A sw planted tank with various macro algae like sargassam, halimeda, mermaids fan, shaving brush...

Well for my low light tank I may put in a small school of anthia. The fact that they need to be fed 3 times a day at least shouldnt be a problem as their waste will be feeding the gorg's.
I may also add a small school of black sailfin blennies.

Now for the planted tank you would want to avoid any fish or grabs that would pick at the algae you are growing so no tangs of emerald crabs. I would probably let the tank mature for a bit then add some pipe fish or sea horses.
