Holding fish to travel??

Hi,
can anyone give me some pointers on holding and travelling with fish - chiclids.
I'm thinking of going to Octoberfish show and auction in Kitchner. If I bought any next Sunday, I couldn't come back right away.
Could they be held in a bucket with just a heater and a hob filter for a few days??
Anything special I should do??

How many days is a few days? And how do you plan to transport them? A trip from Kitchener is one thing, but living in a bucket, being sloshed around for a few days in my mind is not a good idea. Perhaps others will chime in but I personally would not do it.
