Aponogeton crispus question

My A. crispus keeps flowering. It starts growing a new flower every time the old one is done. When the stalk gets long enough I guide it out the top of my aquarium, however, it ends up growing so long that it droops over the side and the stalk eventually breaks. Is there something I can do to support it, or encourage it not to grow so long.

Thanks,

Jeff

Ok so I got the flower to open without breaking off. So now I'm wondering what to do to exactly for propogation? The flower is currently hanging over the side of my tank. I have read that you brush it (would a q-tip work) and then wait for fruit to be produced. Then let the fruit fall into the tank. Will this work?

Check out last years plant contest thread. It's 5 pages long and has some info scattered throughout it.
Hope that helps.

Great idea, some of the other guys have experience with propagating this plant , Fischkopp & BigDaddy seem to come to mind.

A q-tip will work. I didn't do anything other than normal tank maintenance - all the shaking was enough already to pollunate the flower. As long as the flower stalk is above the surface seed will develop, fall back into your tank, and faster then you think you will end up with a little Aponogeton jungle :)
