Vizidrix there are ways around the so called expensive stuff, for example the tank in this thread is fitted with 3 x 54 watt T5 strip lights @ 35.00 each ( complete plug & play), they are housed in vinyl gutter/eavesthrough @ 6.00 per 10 or 12 ft length painted black outside 

$35 a bulb?  Nope, not for me!   Like I said, I'm cheap.  And broke.   Most I would spend on a bulb is probably $10.
