Geoff Davis

Hi all,

My name is Geoff Davis. I live in Halifax, NS.  I've been an aquarium hobbyist for a long time, 30 yrs plus now, since I was a kid.  I've been specialised in Central American Cichlids for more than 15 years, particularly the various Thorichthys, Astatheros, Cryptoheros types.  I've been to Costa Rica on vacation a couple of times, and spent every minute I could looking at fish.  I was a member of the East Coast Aquarium Society from 2004, but I've been overseas for the best part of the last year.  I'll be going home soon, and looking forward to getting my tanks back up and running.  I have two tanks left, both 130 gallons, currently holding the remaining breeding stock of my favorite species.  I have Archocentrus spinosissumus, Cryptoheros nanoluteus, Thorichthys helleri, Neetroplus nematopus, hopefully all waiting to get ready for the spring breeding season when I get home.

I'm going to be in Ottawa on 23 February, and I'm really hoping I'll be able to get to the OVAS meeting.  I've seen Tom Mason's talk on the fishes of Tortuguero Canal, when he came to an ECAS meeting in Halifaxa couple of years ago.  I'm a big fan of Costa Rica and I'm curious to see what Tom has seen recently (plus I've got some snake stories... Tom is a big snake guy).  I'm also looking forward to the chance to meet your club, and hopefully talk with a few people who have similar fish interests to mine.  I'm a fan of West African River Cichlids and Aphyosemion type killishes as well.

Hopefully I'll see you soon.

Here's a link to a couple of photos from my last trip to Costa Rica.
