I have never been to a meeting. What do they entail? How long are they normally?

The monthly meetings usually involve a presentation by a speaker - an expert in a field; I think the topics and speakers are being announced beforehand here: http://ovas.ca/index.php?topic=33647.0

Usually there is also a mini auction after the meeting, where you could sell and buy goodies (there will be no mini auction during the upcoming meeting because the giant auction is 6 days after the meeting). Club-related issues and announcements are being presented and put to vote during the meetings as well. There are always ruffle draws, and light drinks and cookies served.

In addition to the info provided by Zima, meetings are an excellent opportunity for members to meet each other one on one ( put faces to names) & build on friendships in the hobby, the event also serves to view a sampling of our library & obtain club memberships.
The meetings start @ 7.PM  & usually wraps up in approx 2.5 hrs., with the odd one stretching to 3 hrs.Hope to see you out  soon.
