Acclimating tank from T5 to MH

So I decided to make the switch to MH.  My fixture should be here in about 5-7 days so I'm going to start planning the switch over.  Just have a few questions.  The tank is 5.5gal with AC70 fuge and has been running for about 4 months.  Currently I'm running a Nova T5H0 2x18Watt fixture and I'm switching to a 70 Watt Sunpod MH.  For stocking I have a mixed reef but will be going SPS dominated in the future once I figure of Ca,Alk,Mg for a small tank.

-1-  Whats a good process to acclimate the light to the tank without bleaching anything??

-2-  Whats a good photoperiod for the light.  Currently I run 10 hours.  Should I keep the same or start at a low number and work my way up?  I've heard of people putting acouple layers of window screen over their tanks and removing a layer every couple days while keeping their photoperiod the same.

-3-  Any suggestions on height from the tank the light should be.  Its come with legs so will only be about 3 inchs or so from the water.  I personally think this will be too low and am making a light tree to hang the fixture from.  Let em know if 3 is good or will evap and heat be too high?

Thanks for any help/suggestions you provide.
