You know that Blood Parrot you gave me on my way to the airport? Well I came back to see them spawning. Yours is a male.   Pass the cigars!

Bad news, they eggs are gone. The good news is that I did not tell my grand daugther that her parrots had spawned.

That's too bad Michel but as you know, if they spawned once they'll spawn again.  Had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago - a discus pair spawned and the eggs disappeared the following day :(

I dont know, but i reead somewhere that blood parrots are "man made"(crossbread), and for some reason they cannot get the eggs to hatch.
Please correct me if im wrong,
80- 5 Tropheus Brichardi Malagarasi
55- Planted Communnity
35- Discus/Angel Community
10- Breeding tank

Yes dandaman I red the same... I'll see next time they lay eggs.  :) I just was not fast enought to remove the eggs last time..... I was on the phone with a member and talking about the spawning when the parent left the nest unattended and the tropheus went for a snack.

Marx

males are sterile.. they cannot fertilize the eggs.. That i have read of course..

anyhow.. will be at your place soon Michel.. life is so hectic..

pegasus

Hey Nelson.. They've done it again.. first Aug 6 and yesterday Aug 22. I'll keep you posted.

I hope you have better luck this time Michel...on the subject of reproduction, I'm wondering how these fish propogate if their eggs are unable to be fertilized :?   It's not like many species where mated pairs will reproduce easily in their own habitat - as you know these are "man-made" so they don't have a natural habitat per se.

That's a really good point Nelson, I guess since they are a hybrid and don't have a "natural" spawning method, I guess they'll use whatever is available??

Good luck Michel!
