Oscar laying eggs!

So, I've had an Oscar for just under five years now. It lives in a 50 gal. tank all by herself, has been in the same tank for over two years. All of a sudden one morning I wake up to one of the flat rocks in the tank are covered with eggs. Now the fish wont leave the spot and gets really aggresive when up close to the tank. (it's pretty funny)

The only thing I noticed a change in was the temp. It rose to about 81-82, it has only been the last day or so. All summer there was never a problem, not that this is really a problem but...it's the only change I can detect.

Can anyone shine some light on this subject? Any male Oscars out there?

Cheers,
Keith

Even without a male she will lay eggs, it's a very common occurence with cichlids.

It's possible that the temp increase could have done it, or the fact that she is very content with her surroundings that she felt comfortable enough to lay eggs.

If you were to add a male Oscar though, the tank would have to be much larger than a 50 gallon.

Turning up the temp is what i do when i want my oscars to spawn it just takes a few degrees to put them in the mood lol
