I have the MR1 XL, it it were available at the time I ordered it I would have purchased the SMR1 XL. I went with the bio pellets though. It should hold your required 3L of media and if not it will be close, it holds about 3/4 of a gallon what ever that works out to. Somewhere around 3.5L I think.
Matt @ goreef is great to deal with too.

The Two Little Fishies 550 phosban reactor should would really well for you.

I was speaking with the company owner from the bio beads from Holland at MACNA and they felt that the phosban reactors worked quite well.

NjOyRiD

Pat, i need to run 3L of beads
Phosban reactor can take 750ML only :(

isn't litres and ml measure for liquid? if your running solid media, shouldnt it be measured in grams? IDK, but the 550 holds about 3.5 x the amount of the 150 still not sure if it's enough as again the measurements used seem skewed IMO

NjOyRiD

its funny you said that, when i looked at all reactors and my media, its all in liters and ML

Hookup

I believe a ml is a cm cubed... A representation of volume.

I spoke with several ppl at MACNA about these pellets... The most consistent answer seemed to be, good idea, but we are not there yet, if ever...  Questions again of what unknowns are being added to the tank via the pellet and/or pellet mfg process...

Universally agreed was there should NOT be a tank wide bacterial bloom... The concept of the pellet being the carbon source should, if done properly, have the bacteria all in the reactor on the pellets...

Anyhow, good. Hunting... I'm personally hoping you find success so that I can use them someday too!

I am sure you are right, it just seemed odd to me kinda like buying a litre of sugar and 500 grams of milk LOL again seems weird to me  ::)

As hookup mentioned, mL or L as well as gallons, cubic inches, etc are all measures of volume.
Due to the different densities of various media, volume measurement has become a standard of measurement.
I bought sulphur media from MidWest awhile ago. They told me for so many gallons of water I need so many pounds of media.
Picture me sitting there scratching my head wondering how big of a reactor I needed to hold so many pounds of their media.
A litre is a litre regardless what you put in it.

One ml is equivalent to one gram of water (or anything with the same density as water). If it is denser than water it will weigh more, less dense than water it will weigh less.
