Asternia Stars beneficial or a problem?
Looking at 50 to 60 of these visible of 3 sides, just on the glass and probably lots more hiding.
Lots more visible on the glass at night when the lights are off.
Tank is 36 long - 24 high - 18 wide - 65 US Gal.
Is there such a thing as TOO MANY?
Can a population explosion cause any problems?

I had Zoo's disappearing as well.  Removed these guys and the Zoo's haven't gone anywhere since

I've had thousands of these and never ever had any problems. Mine are the almost bleach white colour though, which may be the coral friendly variety.

Mine were a redish colour.

I have never had any problem with them. I have two variates of them one with a dark grey center and one with light brown reddish color(from Australia).

I used to have all kinds of asterina stars in my tank but I haven't seen a single one in months.

When I had the asterinas I never had a problem with my zoas.  Lately they haven't been budding much, if at all.  Now, my acro needs a bit of a haircut as one finger is growing very well and almost at the surface of the tank...just not as much luck with zoas.  Odd.
