It came with a tank i got used and it looks old but works like a charm  

its an internal filter.

Does anyone know how many gallons it is recomended for?

Not 100% sure on what it's recommended for. But I know we have replacement media for it at Super Pet. Annoyingly enough. As you can't buy the filter itself anymore, lol.
