Hey,

There has been a black cat roaming Bells Corners for the past 4 or 5 days.  On Saturday morning I decided to give it some food.  It was very appreciative and now won't leave me alone.  It spent all day Saturday in my backyard and would run up to me whenever I was there.  By midnight it was still there and was getting very cold out.  I decided to bring it inside for the night (locked in my bathroom because my personal cat would not approve).  This morning I let it back outside and left for the day.  I just got back and what do you know it is still there.  Given the freezing rain forecasted for tonight I have brought it inside again.

I'm not sure what the best way to proceed is.  Should I hold onto it and post flyers around the neighbourhood?  Should I bring it to the humane society?

Or, better yet, if you or someone you know is missing a completely black cat, female, about 1 or 2 years old (guessing), very friendly and affectionate, from the Bells Corners area, please let me know.

Hey Mike, hats off for caring enough to help her out.  It is too bad your cats wouldnt get along or might be a new addition should the owner not be located.

The flyer idea is a good one, there is a good chance someone is really missing there kitty.

You can send a description of the cat to the humane society at the link below. They may be able to re-unite the cat with its owner, without you ever having to take it there in person. Last time we found a lost dog, we took it to local vet and they checked (and found) its microchip at no charge.  You could try that too.

Thanks for the replys.  I filled out the OHS found cat form and received an email back saying its best to bring the cat in to them.  I will do that tonight but also post a few fliers around the neighborhood.

We found a kitty once that was microchipped - had it scanned at the humane society and dropped it off at the owner's on the way home.

I think most vets will scan too.
