How do you keep your java moss looking fresh and clean??? Mine everlastingly looks dirty and full of dust and cat hair. My latest technique to use is taking the turkey baster and blasting it with water streams in tank to stir off some of the dust. But I cant say my betta likes that too much. I figure there must be an easier way.

Usually, I've found that if it starts collecting detritus and mulm, that it needs to sit in a little bit more current.

I have one 10 gallon at the office, and the moss does get like that.  I just make sure to shake things up a bit when I do my waterchange on that tank.

Ya, the current in my 10 gal betta tank is rather small. I dont have that problem at ALL with my goldfish tanks.

I even like java moss for this - this is real dust magnet. I just vacuuming it and it cleans the water.

shrimp will do the job well
but depend on the fish on the tank, some fish like the shrimp as lunch
