i must doing something bad , i look for that stuff everywhere in montreal with no luck.
Before order from US i am taking a chance somebody has see them in ottawa area .

Hello !!...Phone LeeValley tools ,..1-800-267-8767 they sell bricks of peatmoss,  that you soak and use as a mix when planting hanging baskets ..... they also sell coconut liners made for linning wire hanging baskets for plants....Wall-mart also had some but much thinner...and they were made of coconut.....                      
     Our local pet store were selling peat bricks at a rediculous price!!!   and I put her on to Lee Valley...theres were about $2.00 a brick...                           John P

ok here is some of my use of that :

- killies like it to spawn
- to keep killies eggs for 1 to 6 month before they can hatch
- to raise most of my worm
- for my tubifex get happy
- and for my orchid in winter.

You may also want to try Hydroponic stores in the area.  This is a very popular substrate to grow plants hydroponics style. There are 3 I can think off just in the merivale area alone.
