So in a 30 gallon tank, I have 3 sailfin mollies, some guppies and of course LOTS OF BABIES!! I decided to put the mollies in about 8 weeks ago. And this was my first time really keeping mollies. I bought 4 lyre tail sail fins for $8.99 each and I LOVE EM'! There my favorite fish in there. So I have a creamsicle, a glo orange, a white, and a dalmation. All except the glo orange are females. And they have been having lots of tanky panky lately. When I decided I wanted to go with mollies, I bought the white one, then after a few weeks, the 3 others. The white one had about 45 fry a few days after getting home. Well I moved them to a new fry tank, and fed them BBS and micro worms. They are now about an inch long and all sold back to the pet store. Ya thats right! All of those little pure withe sailfins, ya those were from me! (*Big als.) Anyways, she had babies again last week, ( about 70) and there in the tank as you read. I decided I needed mor variety, so i got 9 guppys. Males and Females. One of the girls had abot 25 babies on Wednsday, and no one cares!!! The babies literally swim with in a millimeter of the adults mouths and they don't eat them! Why are they so friendly? I thought that they would love a guppies snack! (i don't plan on pampering them like i did for my mollies...)

Anyways I thought that it was weird. And now you guys know what one of my tanks is! What are your thoughts on this friendly-ness?

Laura

Congrats on all the babies!
I'm surprised they're not eating them. Most of my fish have gone with the 'if it fits in my mouth, it's dinner' rule.

I haven't kept mollies before, but any guppies that I had in the past would eat their young when they were first born.  Once they grew a bit, they left them alone.  I guess you have a group of vegetarians in your tank ;D
