Hi all, I have seen some planted tank pictures from the states that have used "Black Diamond" blasting sand (media actually, as it is really coal slag).  Looks jet black, has a reasonable size, and does not seem to have any negative effects (other than possibly being magnetically attractive... so no mag floats).  I have been to Merkley Supplies, but they only have Ebonygrit (copper slag), which looks awesome (just like Tahitian moon sand), but can contain up to 1% copper, so is a no go if I want to keep my shrimp alive.  Searching web sites, both Home Hardware and Princess Auto list the same product.

I have searched the forum, and have come full circle... So, has anyone found a local source for cost effective black sand (media)?
