Upsidedown...Gildfish?

My wife has two goldfish.  Frankie...has been floating upside down for about 2 months off and on...he hasn't been able to get right side up for the last month now...he's bloated obviously and my wife is wondering if anyone knows how to solve his problem.  We've tried adding salt to the water as well I got some new food which was supposed to help...any ideas? he's doing fine otherwise.

Half a cooked pea. Shell off.

Avoid floating pellets and try sinking foods instead.

First off make sure your water parameters are good. High nitrate levels can
cause swim bladder issues.
Also has your goldie ever been dewormed or treated for parasites?
Try handfeeding fresh veggies sometimes that helps as well.


A good idea as well is to make some homemade gel
food for him once he's swimming better. It's
so much better than store bought.
This is one that I used when I kept goldies.

Ingredients
1 Pack Unflavored Gelatine
1 Tbsp Water (bottled, filtered/dechlorinated)
2 Sardines (about 1/4 of a 3.75 ounce can)
1 jar Babyfood peas (no sugar or salt added)
1 Tab Lactobacillus Acidophilus optional**

Place the Acidophilus tab in 1 T water to soak, crush it with a spoon to make sure
it gets dissolved.

Finely chop sardines and mix with babyfood peas in a microwave container and bring to a boil.

Stir in gelatine and stir until dissolved.

After mixture has cooled down to where it's warm, stir in Acidophilus mixture and stir until well mixed.

Pour into a flat dish, about 1/4" thick.

Refrigerate until set, then freeze.

I certainly appreciate your ideas. We will visit our lfs to get some Meds and try the peas fresh veggies and try making the gel food...the water parameters are pristine  with water changes being done every 3-5 days....
