I finally have the Fluval Edge fully cycled with a couple of Otto cats in it and I'm planning to put some CRS in it tonight.  Where do people get those inlet screens to stop shrimp from going up the filter inlet?
I haz reef tanks.

You can get a black sponge one (that actually is marketed for the fluval edge, but will fit most aquaclear and other filters) at petsmart for like $3.  If you are looking for the stainless steel ones... they have to be ordered online (or picked up in Toronto at least).

I've checked the petsmart in Kanata around 3 times and they don't seem to carry them. I guess I'll have to McGyver something for the time being. Where do people order the stainless steel ones from?

Aquainspiration in Toronto has them...

Yep, that is where I got one, the other I have I got off ebay.  The title was something like "crystal shrimp guard".  It did take like 3 weeks to get delivered from China, but I was in no hurry, and it arrived in good shape.

Note that they come in different sizes, so make sure to get the right one.

I have had absolutely no issues with these screens, and have yet to find a shrimp baby in my filter once I installed them (BTW I didn't find any with the fluval edge filter intake sponge either).  They also don't seem to clog, unlike the fluval sponge.  So from first hand experience I can confirm that they work quite well.

I use a foam filter used in  aquaclear filters. I just cut it to size and slice a hole in the middle.
