After making myself rare (sorry) due to an insane workload, I finally have a little breathing room this week, and used the time to try my little Triops kit from last Christmas.

I have two hatchlings and am utterly fascinated by these weird shrimp. Too bad they don't live long, but I find them very cool.

I have a couple of pictures in my brandnew blog (that's the other thing I did -- consolidate all blog pages and posts out there into one wordpress blog http://canadaqua.babyl.ca ), but they are very tiny yet and hard to photograph.

It's hard to tell by the pictures but you might have hatched fairy shrimps, not triops. They frequently come in the same kits.

They look similar at a younger age - the triops will stick to the sides and the bottom whereas the fairy shrimp will swim on the upper two stratas.

If they are triops, you won't have two for long... when I used to grow them one would always eat the other.

The picture at the bottom of the link shows the two side-by-side...

They definitely have that trilobite shape. I'll try to take more pics as they get bigger.

Yeah, I read they're cannibalistic. I hope I can keep them fed enough to not dine on each other. ;o)

Very cool, we tried hatching once with no success.  I keep meaning to try again but life gets in the way.

Finally managed to take some new pics of the terrible two:

They're about an inch long now.
