River sand

Does anybody use the river sand from the Ottawa river?

There is a Petrie Island near Orleans, there used to be a sand digging operations there.

Did you ever used it?

I've used sand from the sand digging operation that was there.  It's much like playsand with a tendancy to compact.

I should point out that much if not all of Petrie Island is protected and it would be ilegal to take sand from there now.
