Need Width of Gap on Aquaclear HOB 70 Filter

So my plan was to use my second Aquaclear HOB 300 filter to help cycle my 90 gallon tank and possibly leave it on as secondary filtration but it seems as though it doesn't seem to fit over the lip.  It's about 1/4" short...the 300 version is an inch wide.  If anyone has the newer 70 version, can you measure the width of the gap and let me know how wide it is?  TIA

you could always use an xacto and score the inside lip and break it off with a pair of plyers. just an idea.

Just measured one I have kicking around and the gap is also 1''

I found someone selling a 500 model on kjjj and he says the gap is over an inch so I'm hoping to have it by this time next week.
